Puy du Fou - Historical Theme Park, France
Puy du Fou a Historical Theme Park located near Les Epesses, Vendée, France is one of the most popular attraction in France. Reportedly it is second only to the Paris Disneyland.
The popularity of the theme park is due to the grand settings where actors re-enact various historical scenes and battles in a very realistic manner. Main themes/attractions of the park are;
The Battle of the Keep (La bataille du Donjon)
It is based around a French Donjon (Dungeon or Keep) and enacts an attack in 1429 by English Knights, disrupting Grand Chivalry Festival.

The Vikings
Reenactment of attack by a Viking longboat on a 1000 year old fortress. Special effects include the emergence of a Longboat from underwater.

The Gladiators
It is set in a replica of an amphitheater that is 115 meters long and 75 meters wide and recreated the atmosphere of Gaul during Roman times. It features a traditional parade of people and animals, gladiatorial combat, chariot racing and executions.

The Phantom Birds Dance
Dozens of Falcons fly from the ruins and swoop low over the heads of the visitors. Their flight is controlled by trained Falconers.

The Cinescene
It is dramatic representation of the story of the 700 years of history in the area. The main show takes place in the evening on a huge outdoor stage behind the ruined castle. The Cinescene boasts the largest stage in the world, thousands of actors, hundreds of horses and about 400 fireworks per performance. All of the actors and actresses (even the children) come from the local villages and are volunteers.
