Puy du Fou - Historical Theme Park, France

Puy du Fou a Historical Theme Park located near Les Epesses, Vendée, France is one of the most popular attraction in France. Reportedly it is second only to the Paris Disneyland.

The popularity of the theme park is due to the grand settings where actors re-enact various historical scenes and battles in a very realistic manner. Main themes/attractions of the park are;

The Battle of the Keep (La bataille du Donjon)

It is based around a French Donjon (Dungeon or Keep) and enacts an attack in 1429 by English Knights, disrupting Grand Chivalry Festival.

The Cinescene

It is dramatic representation of the story of the 700 years of history in the area. The main show takes place in the evening on a huge outdoor stage behind the ruined castle. The Cinescene boasts the largest stage in the world, thousands of actors, hundreds of horses and about 400 fireworks per performance. All of the actors and actresses (even the children) come from the local villages and are volunteers.
