The 'Jewish monument' in Groningen is a sculptural group of six hands of brass and copper, each placed on a separate reinforced concrete pedestal. Behind the statues there is memorial wall built of concrete blocks.

Created by Eduard Waskowsky, the hands are about five meters high and each hand has an expression of its own. The first depicts anger or resistance, the other hands display fear, sadness, acquiescence, prayer and blessing. The seventh pedestal is empty as the artist died in 1976 before the monument could be finished. The organisers decided to keep it blank.

Niemeyer also created a Hand sculpture and located it in the Civic Square of the Memorial of Latin America. Below the sculpture there is a quote in Portuguese from Brazilian Politician Orestes Quércia. The text's translates into English, reads;
"The feeling of Latin American unity is the threshold of a new time. The organizational effort to eliminate the oppression of the powerful and build a greater and more just destiny is the solemn commitment of all of us."

Hand of Desert, Atacama Desert, Chile
Mano del Desierto (meaning: Hand of Desert) is the third giant hand made by Mario Irarrázabal and is most famous of giant hands created by him. Inaugurated on March 28, 1992, the 11 metres (36 ft) tall sculpture, made of iron and concrete, is located in the Antofagasta Region, Chile and is a must stop for the travellers on the desolate Atacama Desert stretch of Pan-American Highway.

As per Wikipedia; "Irarrázabal used the human figure to express emotions like injustice, loneliness, sorrow and torture. Its exaggerated size is said to emphasize human vulnerability and helplessness."

This was first giant hand made by Mario Irarrázabal. On its completion in 1982 Irarrázabal gained worldwide acclaim and made 3 more giant hands including the most famous Hand of Desert (Mano del Desierto) in the Atacama Desert, Chile.

La Mano (The Hand) aka Monumento al Ahogado (Meaning: Monument to the Drowned) is a sculpture of five fingers partially submerged in sand, located at Brava Beach, Punta del Este, Uruguay. The sculpture is made of concrete and plastic with reinforced steel bars, metal mesh, and a degradation-resistant solvent covering the plastic on the outside.

Look Out Hand, Barra del Chuy, Rocha, Uruguay
Look Out Hand (Mirador La Mano) is located on the Atlantic Coast at Barra del Chuy, Rocha, Uruguay. It was erected there by the sculptor Ruben Alberti, in 1971, as a benchmark for setting distances on the Atlantic coast. The hand built from reinforced concrete depicts left hand, was damaged by troops as they thought it had some political linkage with leftists. Ultimately Alberti was able to convince the Government that the sculpture had no political meaning and he was able to repair it. It was then vandalised by unknown persons who broke its fingers. Later it was totally destroyed by a lightning stroke. The artist then created it afresh using thicker reinforcement.
