A giant teapot shaped building in the Meitan county, Guizhou province, China, has the distinction of being World's Largest Teapot.
Meitan is one of the main tea growing areas of China and this unique clay-red building which houses Meitan Tea Museum is symbol of importance of the region for the Chinese tea industry. Besides museum, the building also houses a hotel for the tourists. Built in 2010 it is located on the highest peak in the town and from distance it gives an impression of a large sculpture.
The teapot is 73.8 meter tall with maximum width (diameter) of 24 meters, working space of about 5,000 square meters and total volume of 28,360.23 cubic meters. A smaller tea cup shaped building is attached to it.
I couldn't get more info regarding the designer/architect of the building. May be one of my readers can give more details.
